UNIFORMS
1.) Competitors must wear a rashguard under their gi.
2.) Both men and women's No-Gi divisions, must wear board shorts (women may wear lycra leggings if they so chose) without pockets, reaching at least halfway down the thigh and at most to the knee. No metal/plastic zippers, buckels, or pieces that may puncture the mats or may injure opponants.. Spats may be worn under shorts if selected. Athletes must wear a rashguard or a shirt of elastic fabric (clings to body). Athletes may not compete shirtless or wearing a loose shirt of any kind.
3.) Use of any foot gear, head gear, hair pins, jewelry, cups (genital protectors) or any other protector fashioned of hard material that may cause harm to an opponent or the athlete him/herself is forbidden. Also forbidden is the use of head wear – be it bandages, hoods or an elastic cap.
4.) The use of joint protectors (knee, elbow braces, etc.) that increase body volume to the point of making it harder for an opponent to grip the Gi are also forbidden.
HYGIENE
1.) Athletes’ finger and toe nails must be trimmed and short.
2.) Long hair should be tied up so as not to cause opponents any discomfort.
3.) Athletes will be disqualified if they are wearing hair dye or makeup that stains their opponent’s Gi or the mat surface during a match.
4.) Athletes may not compete with any open lesions that cannot be covered.
MATCH DURATION
1.) The time limit for every teen and adult ranked white or blue belt, including all absolute divisions, will be 5 minutes.
2.) The time limit for every teen and adult ranked purple, brown, or black belt, inluding all absolute divisions, will be 7 minutes.
3.) The time limit for every child will be 3 minutes.
SCORING
1) Gorilla Games will be a submission only, double elimination event.
2.) First penalty will result in a warning, a second penalty will result in disqualification.
3.) If a match finishes in a draw, the match will enter an overtime period of 2 minutes. If there is still no submission, the referee will announce the dominating opponent as winner.
4.) A match will be deemed over immediately if a competitor taps out, screams, verbally gives up, or if the referee stops the bout to prevent injury.
AWARDS
1) The three top-placed athletes in each division shall receive medals. The champion shall receive a gold medal and the runner-up shall receive a silver medal. The 2nd runner-up will recieve the bronze medal.
2.) The prizes shall be awarded according to the results proclaimed by the referees. Exchanging placement at the moment prizes are awarded is forbidden.
3.) Gold medals will not be awarded if there is no match.
4.) A Submission of the Night trophy will be awarded to the athlete with the most impressive submission in youth, teen, and adult divisions.
5.) The over all winning team shall receive a custom banner in the mail with their academy logo displayed as the 2022 Team Champions.
